The March/April 2008 edition of Legendary Ford Magazine celebrates “40 years of Cobra Jet!” Yes, the mighty 428 CJ has been around for 4 decades now, so our latest issue is jam-packed with Cobra Jet features. Our cover car (and poster car) is an all-original Raven Black ‘69 Torino GT from Santa Rosa, California. Other CJ powered feature cars include a ‘69 Ranchero GT, and a ‘69 Mustang Grandé (with a Q-code 428). Our “kick it all off” feature car is a gorgeous ‘67 Galaxie with the 7-Litre Sports Package. Of course it’s not a CJ, but we’ll show you how the 428 “7-Litre” played Patriarch to the engine that would become the “Cobra Jet”.
There’s plenty more CJ in this issue too! Jon Enyeart from Pony Carburetors has a great story on “Carbs of the 428”. Also, Charlie Morris and Al Joniec recollect the glory days when the first CJ powered ‘68 Mustangs dominated the Winter Nationals at Pomona. And on the lighter side of things, we revisit “The Going Thing”- that lively gang of Ford singers from ‘69 and ‘70.
Our Tech and Restoration section is packed with great stuff as well. We’ve got Part 1 of “Cool Runnin”; a how-to install A/C story that will help get you primed for the dog days of summer that lay ahead. In “Mod Squad”, we’ll take a trip to the salvage yard on a hunt for cheap parts that may help you finish off that resto.
This issue also features a story on how the Galaxie survived (and flourished) in Brazil from 1966 ‘til 1983. We’ve also got a story on the road race that happens each October deep in Mexico- “La Carrera Panamericana”. There’s too much more to mention here, you’ll just have to check it out. On sale now! |
